Washington, D.C., July 23, 2026 – On May 29, 2026, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) filed a complaint against Michael Perschbacher of Sulphur, Okla. for alleged violations of the Packers and Stockyards (P&S) Act.
A USDA investigation revealed between October 2021 and March 2022, Perschbacher purchased at least 6,292 head of livestock on a commission basis for two buyers in the amount of $1,374,579, engaging in the business of a market agency buying on commission in commerce without obtaining the necessary registration and bond as required by the P&S Act.
The Secretary of Agriculture has authority to take action against violators, including issuing cease and desist orders, suspending registrations and imposing other remedies authorized by the P&S Act.
