Washington, D.C., July 28, 2026 – On June 2, 2026, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) filed a complaint against Beken Livestock Inc. and Bradley S. Beken of Weimar, Texas, for alleged violations of the Packers and Stockyards (P&S) Act.
A USDA investigation revealed between September 2023 and February 2024, Beken Livestock and Beken operated a livestock dealer without maintaining proper bond coverage and failed to pay timely for 16 livestock purchases from multiple sellers in the amount of $516,755. Payments were issued between three and 21 days late, in violation of the P&S Act.
The Secretary of Agriculture has authority to take action against violators, including issuing cease and desist orders, suspending registrations, and imposing other remedies authorized by the P&S Act.
