Heifers sold 1.00 to 3.00 higher. Bulk of the receipts this week were heifer offerings which included several groups of “replacement” type females. Several lots went back to the country for breeding purpose with premiums close to 200.00 per head more than there “feedlot” mates. Heifers weighing between 650 to 750 lbs trading for 1218.00-1230.00 per head on average. Demand was good to very good on all classes of cattle this week. Light weight calves suited for summer turn out continue to be sought after. Heavy wet snow and rain fell across the state late Friday and Saturday with some auctions canceling due to the large amounts of much needed moisture. This weeks sale receipts were 52 percent heifers with 68 percent weighing over 600 lbs.
