WH_LS750 Kearney, NE Wed Feb 8, 2012 USDA-NE Dept of Ag Market News Kearney, NE - Huss Platte Valley Auction Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 02/08/2012 Receipts: 3800 Last Week: 4825 Year Ago: 4850 Compared to last week, steers under 700 lbs sold steady to 4.00 higher; over 700 lbs sold steady to 2.00 lower. Heifers sold mostly steady on a light test. Most of the light weight calves were light fleshed with some of the heavier feeders medium flesh to fleshy. Some of today’s offering carried a little “tag” from last week’s snow storm. Demand was good for light weight calves suitable for summer grass with moderate to good demand on all other offerings. Today’s sale consisted of 73 percent steers; 27 percent heifers, with near 85 percent over 600 lbs. Next week expecting 3000 head.
