SJ_GR851 St. Joseph, MO Fri Aug 29, 2003 USDA-MO Dept of Ag Market News WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW For the week grain and soybean bids were higher for the exception of wheat which traded mix. Wheat was pressured most of the week due to technical selling, fund selling, and profit taking. Some bids found support from good weekly exports, along with spill over support from the strong corn and soybean trade. Corn and soybeans saw moderate gains due to friendly weather and good to excellent crop ratings. Corn ratings were posted at 50 percent down 10 percent. Soybean ratings came in at 48 percent down 8 percent. The excessive heat endured early in the week had its toll on crop conditions but found some relief as cooler temperatures and light rain approached dry areas of the corn-belt. Through this Labor Day weekend forecast calls for rain but the amounts is less than what traders expected. Wheat was mix, from 19 cents lower to 2 cents higher. Corn was 4-8 cents higher except KC white corn 3-4 cents lower. Sorghum was 3-21 cents higher. Soybeans were 8-19 cents higher.
