A large offering of replacement females was on hand for the afternoon Special. Quality was mostly average with a few consignments of top quality bred heifers and young bred cows. The bulk of the afternoon sales consisted of 2nd stage young to middle aged bred cows due to calve starting in February. A very light offering of feeder cattle sold, but not nearly enough to establish a market or quote prices. Last week, in the Texas/Oklahoma/New Mexico feeding area, live sales sold at 84.00. In Kansas live sales sold at 83.00. In Nebraska, for the prior week, dressed sales sold at 130.00 and live sales ranged from 82.00-84.00. In Colorado live sales sold at 83.50.
