SJ_LS750 St. Joseph, MO Wed Jun 15, 2011 USDA-MO Dept of Ag Market News St. Joseph, MO Stockyards Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 06/15/2011 Receipts: 905 Last Week: 400 Year Ago: 1364 Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold fully steady with instances of 2.00-3.00 higher. Yearling feeder cattle were not well tested, but a definite higher undertone was evident on the few offered. Trading was active on most classes with the only exceptions being a few consignments of off-colored cattle or those that had received too much supplemental feeding. The Missouri River continues to threaten the local area (including the Stockyards) although a couple levee breaches upstream have held off the flooding for the time being. Supply included 58 percent steers, 33 percent heifers, and 9 percent feeder bulls. Near 45 percent weighed over 600 lbs.
