Feeder Cattle Auction Mid-Session and Close for 05/15/2013

   Compared to last week, steer calves sold steady with heifer calves trading 
3.00-5.00 lower with discounts especially severe on fleshy and/or unweaned 
heifer calves.  Yearling feeder cattle were 2.00-3.00 lower on a much lighter 
and more uneven test than last week.  Supplies of feeder cattle are running dry 
and the offering was widely mixed as producers sell-out.  With spring planting 
in high gear and most cattle turned-out, offerings are expected to be much 
lighter until mid-summer yearling consignments come to town.  Supplies included 
53 percent steers, 40 percent heifers, and 7 percent feeder bulls.  Around 43 
percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
