SJ_GR850 St. Joseph, MO Mon May 20, 2013 USDA-MO Dept Ag Market News Daily National Grain Market Summary Soybeans and wheat closed higher with corn closing lower. Corn saw active plantings with Monday afternoon’s crop progress report showing 63 percent completed compared to 28 percent last week. Soybeans were higher as tight old crop supplies remain a source of support. Wheat futures were higher on weather concerns with draught in the Southern Plains and rain in the northern states adding to planting delays. Wheat closed 2-8 cents higher. Corn traded mostly 1-3 cents lower. Soybean futures closed higher with cash trading mixed on basis change. Grains inspected for export for week ending May 16, 2013: Corn totaled 14.6 million bushels, up 1.9 million bushels; sorghum 083 thousand bushels, dn 803 thousand bushels; soybeans 3.3 million bushels, dn 100 thousand bushels and wheat 21.1 million bushels, dn 2.9 million bushels compared to a week ago. Year to Date: Corn totaled 516.2, dn 648.4 million; sorghum 55.2 million, up 13.4 million; soybeans 1259.2, up 122.8 million and wheat 966.1, dn 31.3 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and September 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans.
