Pierre, SD Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 11/06/2009 Receipts: 9568 Last Week: 1849 Year Ago: N/A Compared to last week: Steer calves sold mostly steady to 1.00 higher on increased offerings. Heifer calves sold unevenly steady with best demand for cattle weighing between 500 and 600 lbs. Yearling feeder steers and heifers had no recent comparison; however, a firmer undertone noted on today's increased supply. A larger run of cattle on offer today as weather has finally cleared, allowing arrival of several cancelled consignments from previous weeks. Buyers most active on dwindling load lot yearling cattle numbers. Demand good for all classes. Of the feeder cattle supply 64 percent steers; 36 percent heifers, with 19 percent weighing over 600 lbs. There will be a special all-breeds calf and yearling sale next Friday, November 13th, 2009, expecting 8000-9000 head.
