            location due to closure of Cattle Division of the 
            Sioux Falls Stockyards effective June 30, 2009.

Weekly Cattle Summary

   Compared to last week, slaughter steers, heifers and Holsteins
sold steady to firm.  Slaughter cows 4.00-6.00 higher, bulls 
steady on a light test.  A large number of spectators on the 
seats for the final slaughter cattle auction.  Buyer demand good 
for all classes offered.  The Boxed Beef Cutout Value of a Choice 
1-3 600-900 lb beef Carcass on Wednesday was 139.94, .49 lower 
than last Wednesday.  The Carcass Price Equivalent Index Value of 
a Choice 1-3 600-900 lb beef carcass on Wednesday was 127.60, .10 
lower than last Wednesday.  Receipts this week near 1875 compared 
with 1598 last week and 1916 a year ago.  The estimated Federally 
Inspected slaughter the first three days this week 388,000 
compared with 389,000 last week and 381,000 a year ago.

   Slaughter Steers:  Choice end Prime 2-4 1365 lbs 81.10.  Choice 
2-3 1235-1395 lbs 79.75-81.50, no implants 1180-1305 lbs 82.40-
82.50.  Choice 3-4 pkg 1350 lbs 80.50.  Select and Choice 2-3
pkg 1440 lbs 78.50.  Choice and Prime 2-4 Holsteins 1470-1485 lbs 
73.00-73.50.  Choice 2-3 Holsteins 1345-1495 lbs 70.50-72.50.
