Slaughter Cattle Auction

Receipts:  593    Last Week:  749    Last Year:  588

   Compared to last week:  Slaughter steers 2.00 to 3.00 lower,
heifers 2.00 lower, Holstein steers steady to 2.00 lower.  Demand
only moderate.  Packers bought cattle in the country at lower money
last week 122.00 live and 196.00 dressed and June Live Cattle contract
closed at 120.15 giving them little incentive to be aggressive bidders
at the auction.  Cattle carrying a moderate to heavy gutfill this week.
Slaughter cows mostly steady to 2.00 lower compared to Monday’s sale,
bulls steady.  Fed steers and heifers made up 72 percent of receipts,
balance slaughter cows and bulls.  Of the fed cattle, 79 percent were
steers, 21 percent heifers.


   Steers:  Choice 2-3 1357-1430 lbs 120.25-122.75, mostly 121.50-122.75,
No Implants Low Dressing 1385 lbs 123.75.  Choice 3-4 1539 lbs 122.25.
Select and Choice 2-3 1240-1377 lbs 118.50-121.35.  Holstein Steers Choice
2-3 1336-1492 lbs 110.60-112.75, 1535-1603 lbs 106.25-107.00.  Select and
Choice 2-3 1432 lbs 107.50.

   Heifers:  Choice 2-4 1158-1279 lbs 122.00, Low Dressing 118.00-120.75.
Mostly Select, Few Choice 1185-1235 lbs 115.00-117.50.
