Oklahoma Direct Feeder Cattle Sales 
Trade period reflects August 11 through August 17, 2004
 
Confirmed: This week: 2950    Last week: 2850     Last Year: 4500
 
   Compared to last week:  Feeder cattle 1.00-2.00 higher.  Demand good 
for current delivery.  Demand good for out front delivery, however, many 
sellers not willing to accept the spring discounts at the moment.  Record 
setting mild temperatures and precip are providing excellent grazing 
conditions state wide and thoughout much of the southwest and great 
plains.  Wheat/rye grazers are becoming anxious about conditions dry 
enough to drill. 
   Sales this week were confirmed on 2428 steers and 525 heifers.  71% of 
this week's sales for current delivery.  Yearlings over 600 lbs comprised 
100% of confirmed sales.  Heifers accounted for 18% of the supply.  
   Unless otherwise stated prices are FOB weigh point with a 2-3 percent 
shrink or equivalent and with a 5-10 cent slide on calves and a 3-6 cent 
slide on yearlings from base weights.  Current sales up to 14 days for 
delivery.       
 
   Feeder Steers:  Medium and Large 1 current delivery 775 lbs 115.00;
800-850 lbs 110.00-113.60; 900 lbs 109.00; September delivery 800-850 lbs 
109.00-111.00; October delivery 900 lbs 109.00; March delivery 800 lbs 
101.00; May delivery 750 lbs 100.50.
   Medium and Large 2 current delivery ** 725 lbs ** 110.00.
   Medium and Large 3 current delivery ** 850 lbs ** 100.00.
 
   Feeder Heifers:  Medium and Large 1 current delivery 725-775 lbs
