NW_LS785 Des Moines, IA Fri, May 17, 2013 USDA-IA Dept of Ag Market News Iowa Weekly Slaughter Cattle Weighted Average Summary Week Ending Friday, May 17, 2013 Receipts: 600 Week Ago: 1302 Lighter runs this week, when compared to last week, Slaughter steers sold 1.00 lower. Slaughter heifers sold weaker. Holstein steers sold 2.00 lower. Slaughter cows sold .50-1.00 lower. Demand moderate. The cattle business isn`t at the forefront of many producers minds this week as they finally got a planting window. Storms rolled through parts of the state on Thursday, more rain expected in some areas this weekend. But you can bet planters are rolling full boar where they can.
