Northwest Direct Feeder Cattle Weekly Summary WA-OR-ID 

Feeder Cattle:
Receipts:  1350    Last Week:  5000    Year Ago:  2300

   Compared to last week, feeder cattle steady in a light test. Trade slow with 
light to moderate demand for country supplies as most feedlots were participating 
in the video this week. All contracted calf sales reported this week are being done 
by eastern interests. NW area feedlots have indicated they have no interest in 
contracting calves for fall delivery. Rain showers this past week over the trade 
area was good news for producers. The feeder supply included 56 percent steers and 
44 percent heifers. Near 60 percent of the supply weighed over 600 lbs. Prices are 
FOB weighing point with a 1-4 percent shrink or equivalent and with a 5-10 cent 
slide on calves and a 3-6 cent slide on yearlings. 

   Steers: Medium and Large 1-2: Current FOB Price: 850 lbs. 126.00 ID.  Future FOB 
Price: 550-600 lbs. 140.00 WA for Oct-Nov; 650-700 lbs.  136.00 value added calves 
WA for Oct-Nov.

   Holstein Steers: Large 2-3: Current FOB Price: 350 lbs. 108.00-110.00 WA.

   Heifers: Medium and Large 1-2: Current FOB Price: 800-850 lbs. 117.00-121.00 WA-
OR-ID.  Future FOB Price: 550-600 lbs. 130.00 WA for Oct-Nov; 600-650 lbs. value 
added calves 129.00 for Oct-Nov.

   Bred Heifers (Per Head): Medium and Large 1-2: Future FOB Price: 1100 lbs. 
1400.00 for Oct-Nov WA. Feb-Mar 2014 calvers.
