MD_DA751 DA MD DA751 Casein - National MADISON, WI. July 09, 2009 (REPORT 27) CASEIN - NATIONAL Casein markets and prices are generally holding steady. Domestic suppliers indicate that stocks are available for regular and ongoing customer needs with spot offerings not as prevalent as in years past. Many European manufacturers have geared back their seasonal casein production and are now working with tighter supplies, but indicate to customers that their needs will be met. Oceania suppliers continue to fill orders from inventoried stock. Some Oceania casein producers are looking to future production with caution. They state that milk production projections remain optimistic, but are concerned about the total impact lower milk prices and an unsettled dairy economy may have on total milk volumes. Typically, casein production during the milk production season is the last product to come on line and the first to cease production on the downside, thus totally dependent on milk volumes at seasonal high levels.
