Nebraska dressed trade steady to 2.00 higher. Slaughter rates lighter this week as major winter storm late last week caused many travel problems. Boxed Beef prices Friday morning averaged 136.55 down 2.69 from the close of last week. The Choice/Select spread is now at 2.14. Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday morning totaled 74,360 head. Last week's movement totaled 172,444 head. Midwest Direct Markets: Live Basis: Steers and Heifers 35-80 Percent Choice, 1200-1400 lbs: 84.00-85.00 Dressed Basis: Steers and Heifers: 136.00-138.00. Plains Direct Markets: Live Basis: Steers and Heifers 35-65 percent Choice, 1100-1400 lbs: few in Kansas 84.00-85.00. Slaughter Cows and Bulls (Average Yielding Prices): Slaughter cows 2.00-3.00 higher. Slaughter bulls 2.00 higher. Most markets in Oklahoma closed because of a major winter storm. USDA's Cutter cow carcass cut-out value Friday morning was 113.90 down .81 from the last Friday.
