Pacific Northwest Market Summary: Feed ingredient offers ended the reporting week on Tuesday, August 19, mixed compared to last Tuesday's offers. Soybean meal, canola meal and corn offers moved higher, while distillers dried grain offers were lower for the week. Offers for whole cottonseed and barley were steady to lower, while offers for wheat millrun were steady to higher. Oats, suncured alfalfa pellets and meat and bone meal offers trended steady. Oilseed Meal Markets: Offers for 47 percent protein Soybean Meal, for current rail delivery, were 10.30 per ton higher at 367.80 to 420.80. Basis offers ranged from 22.00 to 75.00 per ton over the September close of 345.80. This compared to last Tuesday's basis range of 22.00 to 75.00 per ton over the Chicago September soybean meal futures close of 335.50. Offers for soybean meal truck delivered to the Willamette Valley were 8.30 to 10.30 per ton higher at 406.80 to 445.80. Offers for nearby delivered Canola Meal, 34 to 36 percent protein, rail delivered to points between Portland, Oregon and Chehalis, Washington, were 227.80 to 240.80, 8.30 to 10.30 per ton higher than week ago offers. Offers for canola meal trans-loaded onto trucks and delivered to the Willamette Valley were 8.30 to 10.30 higher at 247.80 to 260.80. Canola Meal offers for truck delivery to points east of the Cascades were 247.80 to 265.80, 10.30 per ton higher than week ago offers. Whole Cottonseed: Whole Cottonseed offers for delivery to points in the Pacific Northwest from the Midsouth in single boxcars were steady to 10.00 per ton lower at 450.00 to 460.00. Offers for whole cottonseed trans-loaded onto trucks and delivered to Willamette Valley dairies were also steady to 10.00 per ton lower, ranging from 467.00 to 490.00. Animal Proteins: Offers for 46 to 50 percent protein Meat and Bone Meal, FOB Seattle plants, were steady at 365.00. Offers for meat and bone meal truck delivered to Portland and the Willamette Valley were also steady with week ago offers of 385.00, with trading at that level during the week. Wheat Millrun: Feed mill offers for wheat millrun for nearby delivery, loaded truck FOB the flour mill in Portland, were indicated as steady to 1.00 higher, from 184.00 to 195.00. Offers for wheat millrun truck delivered to the Willamette Valley were also steady to 1.00 higher, from 201.00 to 205.00. Flour mill offers for wheat millrun rail delivered on the Burlington Northern Line to Portland from eastern Washington and eastern Oregon during August through December were indicated as 175.00 to 180.00, steady with last week's offers. Offers for wheat millrun FOB eastern Oregon and eastern Washington mills for August through December delivery were not available. Alfalfa Products: Offers for Suncured alfalfa pellets, 15 percent protein, delivered by truck to the Willamette Valley, were 300.00 to 320.00 per ton, steady with last Tuesday's offers. Distillers Dried Grains: Offers for Distillers Dried Grains delivered by rail to feed mills in the Pacific Northwest were 6.00 to 10.00 per ton lower, from 174.00 to 200.00. Offers for distillers dried grains trans-loaded onto trucks and delivered to Willamette Valley dairies were also 6.00 to 10.00 per ton lower at 186.00 to 215.00. Coarse Feeding Grains: Offers for US 2 Barley for nearby delivery to Portland in single rail cars for domestic use were not well tested but were indicated as steady to 3.00 lower, from 225.00 to 237.00 in a very limited test. Offers for US 2 Barley rail and truck delivered to the Willamette Valley were also not well tested but were indicated as 235.00 to 252.00, steady with last Tuesday's limited test. Some barley traders were not issuing offers for nearby delivery. US 2 Yellow Corn offers for rail delivery to points north of Seattle were 21.00 to 21.50 per ton higher at 250.50 to 253.75. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn rail delivered to points in the Seattle area were 248.50 to 250.25, 21.00 to 21.75 per ton higher than week ago offers. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn rail delivered to Portland were 246.25 to 249.25, 21.00 to 21.50 higher. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the Willamette Valley trended 18.00 to 20.75 per ton higher at 256.00 to 266.00 per ton. Sharply higher Chicago September corn futures, at 5.64-3/4 compared to last Tuesday's close of 5.09, were supportive to cash corn offers.
