JO_GR116 Portland, OR Thu Nov 19, 2009 USDA Market News Portland Weekly Grain Review Part 2 Pacific Northwest Add Weekly Grain Summary Cash Soft White Wheat - Pacific Northwest: Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat, any protein and maximum 10.5 percent protein, for November Portland delivery ended the reporting week on Thursday, November 19, at 4.80 to 4.85, mostly 4.85, five cents per bushel lower compared to last Thursday's noon bids of 4.85 to 4.90, mostly 4.90. White club wheat premiums for any protein were 2.00 to 3.00, mostly 3.00 per bushel over bids for any protein and maximum 10.5 percent protein soft white wheat. Last Thursday's premiums were 2.00 to 3.50, mostly 3.25 per bushel over soft white wheat bids. One year ago bids for any protein US 1 Soft White Wheat for November delivery were 5.35 to 5.40, mostly 5.38. Premiums for White Club Wheat one year ago for November were zero to 60, mostly 45 cents per bushel over bids for soft white wheat. Nearby bids for any protein US 1 Soft White wheat began the reporting week on Friday at mostly 4.90, then rose to mostly 4.95 on Monday, remained steady at mostly 4.95 on Tuesday, and fell back down to mostly 4.90 on Wednesday. Today (Thursday), the reporting week's close, bids fell again to mostly 4.85. Bids were lower in reaction to the limited exporter demand. Exporters were not issuing premiums for soft white wheat with a maximum of 10.5 percent protein. There were no new confirmed export sales of white wheat made during the week. Forward month bids for soft white wheat any protein were as follows: December 4.85 to 4.90, January 4.90 to 4.95, February 4.95 to 5.00 and March 5.00 to 5.05. One year ago, forward month bids for any protein soft white wheat were as follows: December 5.35 to 5.45; January through February were 5.45 to 5.50; and March was 5.40 to 5.50. Bids for maximum 10.5 percent protein soft white wheat one year ago were as follows: November not available; December 5.35 to 5.55; January 5.50 to 5.60; February 5.50 to 5.65; and March bids were 5.50 to 5.55. Outstanding U.S. white wheat export sales as of November 12, 2009 for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2009 and ending May 31, 2010, totaled 793.0 thousand MT compared to 825.8 thousand MT on November 5, 2009, and 569.6 thousand MT one year ago. Outstanding white wheat export sales for the 2009- 2010 marketing year were to the following countries in 1,000 MT: Philippines 251.9, South Korea 123.2, Japan 111.4, Iran 60.0, Indonesia 43.0, Yemen 40.0, Thailand 32.0, Taiwan 28.5, Nigeria 27.8, Singapore 13.5, Canada 5.2, Hong Kong 0.5, Vietnam 0.5, and total unknown 55.5. Accumulated white wheat export shipments as of November 12, 2009, in 1,000 MT for the 2009-2010 marketing year, totaled 1,955.1 compared to 1,344.8 one year ago. Outstanding U.S. barley export sales as of November 12, 2009 for the marketing year beginning June 1, 2009 and ending May 31, 2010, in 1,000 MT, totaled 44.2 compared to 44.4 on November 5, 2009 and 64.3 one year ago. Outstanding barley export sales were to the following countries in 1,000 MT: Japan 22.0, Canada 18.8, and Mexico 3.4. Accumulated barley export shipments as of November 12, 2009 were 24.8 thousand MT compared to 157.3 one year ago. Coarse feeding grains: Bids for US 2 Barley delivered to the coast in unit trains or barges during November were not well tested as most exporters were not issuing bids for barley. Bids for US 2 Barley delivered to the inland feeding areas of Hermiston, Oregon and Yakima, Washington were also not well tested. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars were 50 cents lower to 1.75 per ton higher at 178.25, compared to last Thursday's noon bids of 176.50 to 178.75. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered to the inland feeding areas of Yakima, Washington, and Hermiston, Oregon, were 1.50 to 1.75 per ton higher at 172.50 to 182.25 compared to last Thursday's noon bids of 171.00 to 180.50. Higher Chicago December corn futures for the week supported cash corn bids. Bids for US 2 Heavy White Oats for November delivery were not well tested but were indicated as 140.00, steady with week ago indications.
