JO_GR110 Portland, OR Wed May 22, 2013 USDA Market News Portland Daily Grain Report Bids as of 12:00 p.m. Pacific time; Subject to change Bids for grains delivered to Portland, Oregon during May by unit trains and barges, in dollars per bushel, except oats and corn, in dollars per cwt. Bids for soft white wheat are for delivery periods as specified. All other wheat bids are for full May delivery. Bids for corn are for 30 day delivery. July wheat futures closed mixed, from 5.75 cents lower to eight cents per bushel higher than Tuesday’s closes, with the decline in Minneapolis and the greatest advance in Chicago. Bids for US 1 Soft White Wheat delivered to Portland in unit trains and barges during May trended eight to 15 cents per bushel higher than Tuesday’s noon bids for May delivery. Some exporters are not issuing bids for nearby delivery. Bids for 11.5 percent protein US 1 Hard Red Winter Wheat for May delivery trended mixed, from 0.25 of a cent lower to 9.75 cents per bushel higher compared to Tuesday’s bids. Bids were supported by the higher Kansas City July wheat futures, however a lower basis bid by some exporters pressured cash bids somewhat. Bids for 14 percent protein US 1 Dark Northern Spring Wheat for May delivery trended 5.75 cents per bushel lower compared to Tuesday’s bids for May delivery. Bids were pressured by the lower July Minneapolis wheat futures. Bids for US 2 Yellow Corn delivered to Portland in single rail cars trended 32.50 cents per cwt higher than Tuesday’s noon bids. Corn bids truck delivered to the Yakima Valley trended 32.50 to 33.75 cents per cwt higher compared with Tuesday’s noon bids. Corn bids were supported by the higher Chicago July corn futures.
