JC_LS764 Jefferson City, MO Tue Feb 7, 2012 MO Dept of Ag/USDA Market News Palmyra- F and T Livestock Auction Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 02/06/2012 Receipts: 234 Week Ago: 760 Year Ago: 86 Compared to last week, too few feeder steers and heifers to establish a trend. Slaughter cows 6.00-8.00 higher. Cow prices were sharply higher as the slaughter cow buyers have become more aggressive the past couple of weeks, competing for a dwindling supply as the dry conditions around the South and Midwest have improved thanks to recent rains. Bred cows of adequate quality should also continue sell well as we move closer to the early days of spring. Demand moderate to good and supply light. Cows and bulls accounted for 35 percent of the run and feeders 65 percent. In the feeder supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 60 percent of the run; heifers 40 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around 15 percent.
