JC_LS763 Jefferson City, MO Wed Feb 8, 2012 MO Dept of Ag/USDA Market News West Plains- Ozarks Regional Stockyards Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 02/07/2012 Receipts: 5421 Last Week: 3408 Last Year: 734 (weather) Compared to last week, steers 400-600 lbs and weights over 750 lbs sold mostly steady, 600-750 lbs were 4.00-8.00 higher and pee-wee calves under 400 lbs 2.00-5.00 higher. Heifers under 450 lbs 3.00-8.00 higher, 450-750 lbs steady to 5.00 higher, weights over 750 lbs steady to 1.00 lower. However, some soft/fleshy or plainer calves 450-600 lbs sold weak to 3.00 lower. Supply heavy. Demand good to very good, but noted best on 3 weight calves and especially 600-750 lb weaned calves and yearlings. A Pre-Vac Sale was held in conjunction with the regular sale which provided several larger drafts causing the market to appear higher in spots than this weeks trend, but solely contributed to the more uniform, weaned, double vaccinated attractive bunches. The fact that the majority of 10 month to year old calves and lighter yearlings being in heavy medium to fleshy condition, can be contributed primarily to the mild winter so far, along with most area producers being awfully good care takers. Supply consisted of 54 percent steers and 46 percent heifers. Near 58 percent weighed over 600 lbs.
