Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 02/02/2010

  Compared to the last tested market 2 weeks ago, feeder steers under 700 lbs 
sold 2.00 to 5.00 higher, heavier weights steady. Feeder heifers traded 1.00 to 
4.00 higher with the most advance on heifers under 600 lbs. Slaughter cows 
steady to 1.00 higher. Locally, weather has been suitable for gathering and 
transporting cattle and as a result an influx of feeder cattle was in town. 
General economic laws were defied though, as supply did not outweigh demand and 
all weights and classes of cattle were very easily absorbed. A good portion of 
the cattle were carrying some extra flesh but discounts were only evident in 
extreme cases. Supply heavy and demand moderate to good. Cows and bulls 
accounted for 08 percent of the total offering. The feeder supply consisted of 
53 percent steers and bulls and 47 percent heifers; 64 percent of all the 
feeders weighed over 600 lbs.
