Cow and Bull Auction Close for 7/08/09

Receipts:  523   Last Week:  750   Last Year:  947

   Compared to last Wednesday, after opening fully steady slaughter cows
sold 1.00-2.00 lower as buyers began to square up their loads and slaughter
bulls sold 1.00-2.00 lower. Receipts of cows and attendance at the auction
were both light as producers found other activities taking priority over a
trip to the auction barn. The supply of bred cows and cow/calf pairs was
light but included a few quality individuals. Supply was light and demand
moderate for slaughter classes.

   Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  3 years to short and solid mouth 2nd
and 3rd stage 1075-1325 lbs most 640.00-860.00, couple pkgs. better quality
900.00, 1st stage pkg. 2-3 years 1125 lbs 725.00; broken mouth to aged 3rd
stage 1170-1210 lbs 560.00-640.00. Large 1-2  3-6 years 2nd and 3rd stage

950.00, couple large lots quality black pairs from one farm 1225.00-1275.00;
broken mouth pkg. 1085 lb cows w/165-180 lb calves 700.00. Large 1-2  short
and solid mouth 1450-1500 lb cows w/babies to 350 lb calves 875.00-975.00.
Medium and Large 2  3-6 years 860-1100 lb cows w/babies to 295 lb calves and
a few rebred 750.00-825.00.
