Cow and Bull Auction Report for 02/03/10

Receipts:  400    Last Week:  525    Last Year:  690

   Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold 2.00-3.00 higher.  Bulls,
although a light test, were 3.00-4.00 higher.  Supply light.  Demand on
slaughter classes good, although mainly singles and small pkgs demand no
better than moderate for bred cows and pairs.  Locally, the daily thawing
and refreezing along with melting snow has corrals and loading facilities
a mess, even here in rock country.

A couple of announcements cattlemen: Next Wednesday Feb 10th 3-4 larger herds
of young bred cows and heifers already consigned and Friday Feb 5th Special
Pre-Vac Feeder Cattle Sale starting at 8:00 am.

750.00-845.00 per head, few 3-5 yrs 950-1250 lbs 1st stage 600.00-690.00.
Few first-calf heifers 730-905 lbs 2nd and 3rd stage 650.00-690.00.  Small pkg
short-solid mouth 1362 lbs 3rd stage 690.00, small lot broken mouth 1137 lbs 3rd
stage 540.00, lot Large 1  mixed short-solid and broken-mouth 1557 lbs 3rd stage
47.00 per cwt.


Cow-Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1-2  Scarce, few scattered sales 4-6 yrs 925-
1000 lb cows with babies to 250 lb calves 860.00-1000.00 per pair.
