Cow and Bull Auction Report for 06/25/2003

Receipts:  525     Last week:  159     Last year:  248

   Compared to last Wednesday, slaughter cows and bulls sold firm to
2.00 higher.  Demand and prices for Holstein Dairy Heifers showed nice
improvement from last month’s special.  SPECIAL NOTE: Starting in the
month of July, Wright County Livestock will consolidate their normal
Wednesday Cow and Bull Sale to follow their Monday Feeder Cattle Sale.
The Monthly Dairy Sale will remain the same and continue to be on the
4th Wednesday of each month as usual.  Wright County will be having
their feeder cattle sale followed by the cow and bull sale this Monday
June 30th, however, there will be no cow sale Wednesday July 2nd.

   Bulls: Yield Grade 1-2  few sales 1200-2000 lbs 52.00-57.00, few high
dressing 58.50-62.00, low dressing 47.00-51.00.

   Bred Cows: Medium and Large 1-2  few sales 2-5 yrs 1025-1450 lbs 2nd
and 3rd stage 665.00-710.00 per head, small pkg 7 yrs to short-solid
mouth 1350 lbs 3rd stage 640.00.

   Cow Calf Pairs: scarce

   Holstein Springer Heifers: Supreme 1500.00-1620.00; Approved 1330.00-
1510.00; Medium 1000.00-1220.00.

   Open Heifers: Approved 725-775 lbs 990.00-1030.00, few cross-bred
750-815 lbs 780.00-810.00; 625-650 lbs 830.00-885.00; lot 566 lbs 850.00;
few 365-445 lbs 770.00-790.00; pkg 278 lbs 600.00.  Medium 640-780 lbs
780.00-960.00; 500-600 lbs 740.00-870.00; small pkg 493 lbs 660.00, pkg
cross-bred 458 lbs 450.00; 300-335 lbs 585.00-630.00; small pkg 217 lbs
