JC_LS169 Jefferson City, MO Mon Dec 08, 2008 MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News North Central Missouri Show-Me-Select Replacement Heifer Sale Green City Livestock Auction, Green City, MO 12/06/08 Receipts: 167 Year Ago: 148 Coordinated by Missouri "Show-Me-Select" Replacement Heifers, Inc. in cooperation with University of Missouri Extension, University of Missouri Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, Missouri Cattlemen's Association and Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA. Heifers in the sale have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight. They have also underwent a comprehensive health program, and are guaranteed bred to easy calving bulls, with several synchronized and artificially bred. Projected calving dates were given for all lots with most of the heifers expected to calve in February and March. Heifers were screened for blemishes, frame, muscle, body condition score (BCS), and disposition by a final screening committee comprised of official graders from the Missouri Dept of Agriculture and USDA, and then sorted into lots according to calving dates and body type similarity. Demand moderate with all of the heifers black or black white face. Sale average of 1098.00 per head on 36 lots. Bred Heifers: Large 1-2 1100-1250 lbs 2nd and 3rd stages pregnancy 1125.00-1260.00 per head, Pkg 1350.00 per head. Medium and Large 1-2 950-1100 lbs 2nd and 3rd period preg 950.00-1100.00 per head.
