Southeast Missouri Show-Me Select Replacement Heifer Sale

   Coordinated by Show Me Select Board with University Extension, 
Commercial Agriculture Program, MU College of Veterinary Medicine, 
Missouri Cattlemen Association and Missouri Dept of Agriculture. 
 
   Heifers in this sale have met minimum standards for reproductive 
soundness, pelvic size, frame size, muscle thickness, body condition, and 
weight. They have undergone a comprehensive health program, and are 
guaranteed bred. There are 92 A.I. bred heifers. A highlight of the sale 
there are 25 Teir 2 Show Me Select heifers in the sale. This means that 
they have met requirements and are out high accuracy sires. Several herds 
have 6 to 7 generations of stacked pedigrees. Several consignors feed 
their cattle and get top premium at U.S. Premium Beef on steers mates. 
All heifers are expected to calve from the first of September 1 thru late 
November with projected dates given for each lot of heifers. Within the 
offering, there were 90 percent black or black white face, some Registered Angus 
and Registered Simmentals, the rest of the offering consisted of Angus, 
Hereford, Simmental, Charolais crosses. Heifers were graded and sorted into 
uniform lots according to projected calving dates and body type similarity. A 
capacity crowd attended the sale and demand was high. 
    
   Supply consisted of 129 bred heifers from 15 producers, in 71 lots 
selling to 23 different buyers, average weight 1075 lbs, with a sale 
average of 1401.00 per head. There were 46 lots of AI bred heifers with 
an average sale price of 1436.00; 23 lots all natural bred heifers with 
an average price of 1308.00; 2 lots of mixed AI and natural bred heifers with 
an average sale price of 1333.00.

   Replacement Heifers: Few Registered Angus or Simmentals Large 1-2, 1st-2nd
Stage 1275.00-1475.00; few Fancy Reputation Registered Angus Large 1, 1st-2nd 
stage 1550.00-1700.00; Large 1, 1st-2nd, 1300.00-1450.00; reputation lots, 
1500.00-1675.00  Medium and Large 1-2, 1st-2nd stage, 1250.00-1350.00; few 
Medium 1, 1st-2nd stage, 1200.00-1300.00; few Medium 2, 1st-2nd stage, 1050.00-
1200.00 per head.
