Feeder Cattle Auction for 05/22/13

   Compared to the previous auction from two weeks ago, feeder steers
and heifers steady to 5.00 higher.  Slaughter cows 2.00-4.00 higher.
Best demand on yearling steers and the higher quality calves with a
solid heath program.  A heavy supply of cows to go along with the
feeders, with several strings of both bred cows and pairs also offered.
Cattle futures turned sharply lower on Wednesday with a higher grain
market, although the Choice Boxed Beef Cutout continues to surge higher,
quoted up 54 cents at 211.20.  Demand moderate to good and supply
moderate.  Cows and bulls accounted for 20 percent of the run and
feeders 80 percent.  In the feeder supply, steers and bulls made up
approximately 65 percent of the run and heifers 35 percent.  Offerings
over 600 lbs totaled around 43 percent.
