Feeder Cattle Auction for 05/08/13

   Very few feeder cattle comparisons with the previous sale from two
weeks ago; compared to three weeks ago the lighter weight calves traded
mostly steady with the heavier weight cattle 2.00-5.00 higher, with
instances 8.00 higher on six weight steers.  Slaughter cows unevenly
steady with two weeks ago with the best demand for the breaking and
high dressing boning cows.  Several large reputation strings of mostly
heifers in the feeder offering.  An active market on yearling cattle
despite cattle futures closing lower again on Wednesday, (May Feeder
Contract settling down 1.27 at a new contract low of 135.60).  Some
feedlot trade Wednesday at 126.00 which would be off a couple of dollars
from last week.  Choice Boxed Beef continues to be strong, up 3.48 at
204.67.  Demand moderate to good and supply heavy.  Cows and bulls
accounted for 6 percent of the run and feeders 94 percent.  In the
feeder supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 38 percent of the
run and heifers 62 percent.  Offerings over 600 lbs totaled around
36 percent.
