Feeder Cattle Auction for 01/27/10

Receipts:  2595    2 Weeks Ago:  2580    Year Ago:  2081

   Compared to the previous auction from two weeks ago, feeder steers
and heifers mostly steady with instances 1.00-2.00 lower on yearling
steers and 1.00-2.00 higher on yearling heifers.  Slaughter cows
1.00-2.00 higher.  Colder weather this week has temporarily solved the
mud problem that was making feeding and moving cattle difficult.  Grains
closed with new recent lows on Wednesday which should continue to support
the feeder market with lower feed costs.  Demand moderate to good and
supply moderate.  Cows and bulls accounted for 7 percent of the run and
feeders 93 percent.  In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately
53 percent of the run and heifers 47 percent.  Offerings over 600 lbs
totaled around 63 percent.

Scheduling note: The Replacement Cow Sale that was to be held on
Saturday, February 6 has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2010.
