Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 11/17/2009

   Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to 2.00 lower, although
heavy 6 weight heifers were 2.00-4.00 lower than last week’s sharp upturn.
Supply light, contributed mainly to the first week of Missouri’s Annual Deer
Season.  Also, the weather front of cold rain and drizzle put a halt on movement
of a few deals as well.  Demand light to moderate, but continued best on higher
quality, uniform bunches with shots.  It’s apparent that last week’s fat cattle
market being 3.00-4.00 lower along with higher feed cost dulled the edge of any
positive ideas near term on feeder cattle, along with several reports of some
feedlots currently being pretty much at capacity levels.  That in itself has
never been real good news.  Supply consisted of 61 percent steers and 39 percent
heifers.  Near 42 percent weighed over 600 lbs.

   Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1  few 350-400 lbs 110.00-114.00; 400-500 lbs
100.00-110.00, couple lots weaned 455-465 lbs 112.50-114.50; 500-600 lbs 88.00-
101.00, fleshy 82.00-88.00; 600-700 lbs 87.50-94.00, calves 82.50-90.00, few fat
80.00; few 700-800 lbs 85.00-89.00, calves 82.00-86.00, few fleshy 80.00-82.00;
800-850 lbs 86.50-87.50.  Medium and Large 1-2  375-400 lbs 105.00-109.00; 400-
500 lbs 95.00-110.00; 500-550 lbs 93.50-101.00, lot fleshy 90.00; 550-600 lbs
84.00-88.00; 600-650 lbs 87.00-91.50, calves 600-700 lbs 80.00-87.50; 700-800
lbs 85.00-86.50, some calves near 700 lbs 84.00; 800-850 lbs 86.00-88.50.
Medium and Large 2  lot 398 lbs thin 107.50; few 450-500 lbs 86.50-94.00; 600-
700 lbs 82.50-87.50.

   Holsteins: Large 3  pkg 392 lbs 65.00; 500-550 lbs 60.00; pkg 789 lbs 58.00;

   Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large 1  375-380 lbs 90.00-93.00; 400-500 lbs
85.00-91.50; 500-600 lbs 80.00-85.00; 650-700 lbs yearlings 82.00-86.00, calves
600-700 lbs 77.00-84.50, some fat 75.00-78.00; 720-750 lbs 80.00-82.50.  Medium
and Large 1-2  few 350-400 lbs 86.00-90.00; 400-500 lbs 82.50-90.00; 500-600 lbs
78.00-84.50, few fleshy near 500 lbs 77.50-78.00; 650-700 lbs 77.50-80.00; 700-
