JC_LS144 Jefferson City, MO Fri Feb 05, 2010 MO Dept of Ag-USDA Market News New Cambria - New Cambria Livestock Auction Feeder Cattle Auction for 02/04/10 Receipts: 1610 Week Ago: 1902 Year Ago: 2010 Compared to last week, steers 1.00-5.00 higher with the most advance on the steer calves under 500 lbs and the light seven weight yearlings. Feeder heifers steady to 2.00 higher. Slaughter cows steady to 1.00 higher. Buyers were once again active on all weights with the aggressive action even more impressive considering the collapse that took place on Wall Street Thursday with the Dow closing down 268 points. The abundance of wet/damaged corn in the Northern Midwest, which could be marketed through cattle, is one theory explaining the continued strength in the feeder cattle market. Demand good and supply moderate. Cows and bulls accounted for 5 percent of the run and feeders 95 percent. In the feeder supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 44 percent of the run; heifers 56 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around 56 percent.
