Cow and Bull Auction Close for 11/23/09

Receipts:  458   Last Week: 503   Last Year:  326

   Compared to last Monday, slaughter cows and slaughter bulls sold steady to
1.00 higher. Many of the cattle in the offering were of the kind and quality
that gave the impression producers were culling to ready themselves for winter
weather conditions. The limited selection of bred cows were mostly 2-6 years
of age and the supply of cow/calf pairs was light. The supply and demand were
moderate for slaughter classes.

most 58.00-64.00, black indiv. 74.50; 3-7 yrs 965-1245 lbs 42.00-53.50.

   Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth 2nd and
3rd stage 1060-1345 lbs 600.00-800.00, 1st stage 1145-1380 lbs 590.00-660.00;
broken mouth 3rd stage 1330 lb indiv. 510.00. Large 1-2  3 yrs to short and
solid mouth 3rd stage 1395-1630 lbs 665.00-760.00. Medium and Large 2  3-6
yrs 2nd stage 980-1275 lbs 540.00-625.00, 1st stage 1140 lb indiv. 510.00.
Medium 1-2  3-6 yrs 2nd stage 840-965 lbs 485.00-660.00; broken mouth 3rd
stage 1070 lb indiv. 475.00.

   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1-2  2 yrs to short and solid mouth
1190-1280 lb cows w/170-365 lb calves and a few rebred 900.00-1110.00. Large
1-2  short and solid mouth 1475 lb cow w/130 lb calf 835.00. Medium and Large
2  4-6 yrs couple 1080-1185 lb cows w/140-300 lb calves 800.00-850.00; broken
mouth pkg. 1080 lb cows w/babies to 155 lb calves 440.00. Medium 1-2  short
and solid mouth to aged 875-940 lb cows w/350-375 lb calves 600.00-660.00.
