Cow and Bull Auction Close for 11/16/2009 

Receipts:  503    Last week:  746    Last Year:  389

   Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls sold steady with instances  
of 1.00 higher. Bred cows and pairs were fairly scarce and interest in those 
available was somewhat lacking. Several of the cows on offer had some good size 
and dressing percentage but the majority of the slaughter cows and bulls were 
pretty full. Rain moved back into Southwest Missouri over the weekend and is 
forecast for the better part of the next week. Supply and demand for slaughter 
classes was moderate.

   Slaughter Bulls:  Yield Grade 1-2  1150-2170 lbs 54.50-58.50, high dressing 
58.50-62.50, low dressing 43.00-50.50. 

   Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2-6 yrs 990-1250 lbs mostly 2nd and a few 
3rd stage 610.00-775.000 per head, small pkg 2-3 yr blks 800.00, few 1st stage 
2-3 yrs 1015-1085 lbs 620.00-635.00; several short-solid to broken mouth 1080-
1390 lbs 535.00-650.00.  Medium and Large 2  4 yrs to broken mouth 920-1145 lbs 
510.00-560.00.  Medium 1-2  small pkg 5 yrs 1062 lbs 570.00.  

   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1-2 Very scarce, few single sales 5-7 yrs 
1150-1300 lb cows with baby to 225 lb calves, couple rebred, 800.00-925.00 per 
head, ind. short-solid mouth 1075 lbs with 200 lb calf 835.00.
