Dealer prices for Great Northerns in Nebraska remained firm to 1.00 higher this week as supplies continue to tighten, and demand remains steady. Rainy weather in North Dakota and Minnesota has delayed planting once again. According to USDA-NASS, only 2 percent of the beans in North Dakota have been planted compared to 20 percent on the 5 year average. In Minnesota, 10 percent have been planted compared to 30 percent on the 5 year average. However, planting in Washington and Idaho is ahead of schedule with, 85 percent of the beans in Washington planted compared to 78 percent on the 5 year average. In Idaho, 49 percent of the bean crop has been planted compared to 24 percent on the 5 year average. Dealer: PINTO BEANS were steady. GREAT NORTHERN BEANS were firm to 1.00 higher. PEAS AND LENTILS MARKET SUMMARY IDAHO/WASHINGTON: Fieldwork has begun in both regions. According to USDA-NASS, 90 percent of the peas have been planted in Washington and 88 percent of the peas have been planted in Idaho compared to 83 and 73 percent on the 5 year average in both regions respectively. Trading activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. Dealer: Brewer Lentils steady. Pardina Lentils had no recent comparison. Whole Green Pea, Green Split Peas, Yellow Peas, Yellow Split Peas, and Austrian Winter Peas were not established. Grower: Green Peas, Yellow Peas, Pardina Lentils, and Brewer Lentils were steady. NORTH DAKOTA/MONTANA: According to USDAS-NASS, only 52 percent of the pea crop has been planted in North Dakota compared to 74 percent on the 5 year average. Montana is further ahead with 91 percent of the crop planted compared to 86 percent on the 5 year average. Trading activity was moderate on moderate buyer demand. Dealer: Richlea Lentils, Green Peas and Yellow Peas were not established. Grower Prices: Green Peas were not established, but price spreads from 20.00-28.33 are being reported as New Crop and Current Crop pricing are beginning to merge. Yellow Peas and Richlea Lentils were steady. CALIFORNIA: Trading activity very light with light demand. Dealer: Large Limas, Baby Limas, Blackeye Beans, and Garbanzo Beans were not established. Grower: Large Limas and Baby Limas were steady on a light test. Blackeye Beans and Garbanzo Beans were not established.
