DC_LS165 Dodge City, KS Fri Feb 3, 2012 USDA-KS Dept Ag Market News Kansas Direct Feeder Cattle Summary Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 02/03/2012 Receipts: 5336 Last Week: 4211 Year Ago: 2627 Compared with last week: Steers firm to 4.00 higher, full advance on 800-850 lbs; heifers 2.00-4.00 higher. This weeks weather was mild early with daytime highs in the upper 60s. Toward the end of the week and over the weekend, rain forecast for much of the state, blizzard conditions in the northwest. Dodge City received about 60-80 hundreds, with areas west of Dodge City receiving less, down to 10 hundreds in some areas. The central and eastern parts of the state had received 1-2 inches as of early Friday morning. All are very grateful for the moisture we have received. Sales confirmed on 3448 steers, 1555 heifers and 333 calves for a total of 5336 compared with 4211 last week and 2627 last year. Volume includes 94 percent 600 lbs and over; 6 percent 600 lbs and under with 7 percent contracts. Feeder supply 71 percent steers and 29 percent heifers. Unless otherwise stated prices are FOB weighing points with 2-3 percent shrink or equivalent and a 5-10 cent slide on calves and a 3-6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights.
