BL_LS751 Billings, MT Thu Feb 09, 2012 USDA Market News Billings Livestock Commission - Billings, MT Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 02/09/12 Receipts: 2,428 Last Week: 2,300 Last Year: 930 Compared to last week: Stocker steers under 600 lbs sold 5.00 to 8.00 higher on limited comparable sales; feeder and stocker steers over 600 lbs lightly tested so trend not applicable, however a lower undertone was noted. Feeder and stocker heifers under 650 lbs sold steady to 3.00 higher; Heifers over 650 lbs lightly tested so trend not applicable, however a lower undertone was noted. Feeding cows sold 3.00 to 6.00 higher. Slaughter cows sold 4.00 to 5.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady to 2.00 higher. Demand good for all classes. Approximately, 25 percent feeder cattle; 10 percent feeding cows; 50 percent bred heifers and cows; 10 percent slaughter cows; 1 percent slaughter bulls with the balance pairs and misc. cattle. In the feeder supply, steers made up 37 percent of the run; heifers 63 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled 46 percent.
