AM_LS750 Amarillo, TX Tue May 14, 2013 USDA-TX- Dept of Ag Market New Amarillo Livestock Auction – Amarillo, TX Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 05/13/2013 Receipts: 938 Last Week: 916 Year Ago: 814 Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers sold steady to weak on limited comparable sales with most of the decline on cattle weighing over 800 lbs. Trade activity and demand were moderate. Offering included a load of Medium and Large 1-2 steers weighing 700-750 lbs. Warm temperatures look as if they are here to stay this week with no rain in the forecast. Slaughter cows and bulls were 1.00-3.00 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 13 percent, 3 percent replacements and 84 percent feeders. Feeder supply consisted of 57 percent steers and bulls, 43 percent heifers. Approximately 75 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
