AM_LS165 Amarillo, TX Fri Nov 20, 2009 USDA-TX Dept of Ag Market News Texas Weekly Direct Feeder Cattle Summary Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for Friday - 11/20/09 Confirmed: 15,500 Last Week: 14,100 Last Year: 12,300 Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers steady to 1.00 lower, coinciding with the trend at most auction markets in the Southern Plains. Many auctions have had large receipts but have been predominantly due to calves. Calves at area auctions traded on a more mixed basis, with those locations in areas where moisture has been adequate for wheat pasture growth trading steady to 5.00 higher and the dry areas steady to 5.00 lower. Several feedlots continue to limit new arrivals due to their full conditions and previous contracts that are being received. Approximately 96 percent of this week's cattle weighed over 600 lbs. Approximately 45 percent of this week's receipts were steers and 55 percent heifers. Prices based on net weights FOB after a 3 percent shrink or equivalent and 5-10 cent slide on calves and 4-6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Delivered prices include freight, commissions and other expenses. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery.
