AM_LS165 Amarillo, TX Fri May 17, 2013 USDA-TX Dept of Ag Market News Texas Weekly Direct Feeder Cattle Summary Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for Friday - 5/17/13 Confirmed: 27,900 Last Week: 8,100 Last Year: 28,500 Compared to last week the current FOB feeder steers and heifers mostly steady to 3.00 lower but on much bigger volume when compared to last week’s light test. Trading resumed after slowing and even stopping late last week amidst the declining bids and included a large increase in 800-900 lbs Medium and Large 1-2 steers this week compared to last. Approximately 99 percent of this week's cattle weighed over 600 lbs. Approximately 70 percent of this week's weighted average receipts were steers and 30 percent heifers. Prices based on net weights FOB after a 3 percent shrink or equivalent and 5-10 cent slide on calves and 4-6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Delivered prices include freight, commissions and other expenses. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery.
