Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary - Amarillo, TX - Tuesday - 11/17/09

Cattle and Calves: 1,392        Week Ago: 2,277        Year Ago:  1,118                                                         

   Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers over 600 pounds steady to 
1.00 lower, offerings under 600 pounds mostly 2.00-4.00 lower, limited test on 
calves under 500 pounds.  Trade and demand moderate.  Slaughter cows and bulls 
steady to 2.00 higher.  Bulk of the supply Medium and Large 1-2 400-750 lb 
feeder steers and heifers.  Slaughter cows made up 14 percent of the offering, 
slaughter bulls 1 percent, replacement cows 5 percent, and feeders 80 percent.  
The feeder supply included 54 percent steers and bulls and 46 percent heifers.  
Approximately 56 percent of the feeder run weighed over 600 lbs.   

   Steers: Medium and Large 1: few 400-500 lbs 106.50-109.00; two pkgs 512-517 
lbs 100.50-102.50, lot 584 lbs 94.50; 600-650 lb calves 89.75-94.00, 650-700 lb 
calves 84.25-89.75; 700-800 lb calves 85.25-89.00.
   Medium and Large 1-2: 300-350 lbs 110.00-111.00, 350-400 lbs 100.00-105.00; 
400-450 lbs 94.00-104.50; 500-550 lbs 90.00-95.00; 600-700 lb calves 84.00-
87.00; lot 747 lbs 89.00.
   Medium and Large 2-3: 350-400 lbs 86.00-90.00; 400-500 lbs 82.50-90.00; 600-
700 lbs 76.00-81.00; part load 845 lbs 77.50.  
   
   Heifers: Medium and Large 1: small lot 394 lbs 100.25; few 450-500 lbs 89.00-
