Sulphur Springs Livestock Auction - Monday - 08/06/01

Cattle and Calves: 1,324     Week Ago: 1,544            Year Ago: 1,388   
                     
   Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers under 500 lbs steady to 
1.00 lower, over 500 lbs steady to 1.00 lower.  Slaughter cows fully 
steady.  Slaughter bulls mostly steady.  Replacement cows and cow/calf 
pairs steady to 10.00 higher.  Demand good.  Bulk supply Medium and Large 
1-2 300-600 lb feeder steers and heifers.  Feeder cattle accounted for 47 
percent and slaughter cows and bulls 53 percent of the run.  In the feeder 
supply, steers made up approximately 55 percent of the run, heifers 45 
percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around 4 percent.
                
   Steers: Medium and Large 1: 200-300 lbs 106.00-117.00, few 122.50-
135.00; 300-400 lbs 107.50-118.00, few 119.00-121.00; 400-500 lbs 98.50-
108.00; 500-600 lbs 89.00-99.00; 600-700 lbs 88.00-92.00.  
   Medium and Large 2-3: 200-300 lbs 95.00-105.00; 300-400 lbs 93.00-  
104.00; 400-500 lbs 88.00-98.00; 500-600 lbs 79.00-88.50; 600-700 lbs
77.00-86.00.                                                                           
   Large 3: Holsteins: 400-500 lbs 73.00.  
              
   Heifers: Medium and Large 1: 200-300 lbs 101.00-108.00, few 115.00-
