Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, TX – 01/13/09 

Cattle and Calves:  959   Week Ago:  389   Year Ago:  1734

   Compared to the last sale: Feeder steers and heifers over 600 lbs steady to 
2.00 higher, and under 600 lbs mostly steady, however instances 3.00-10.00 
higher on a limited test of 400-500 lbs steers.  Slaughter cows steady to firm 
and bulls not enough for a good comparison.   Bulk of the supply Medium and 
Large 1-2 400-825 lbs feeder steers and heifers.  Trade and demand moderate to 
good.  Slaughter cows made up 2 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 1 
percent, replacement cows 7 percent and feeders 90 percent.  The feeder supply 
included 35 percent steers and bulls and 65 percent heifers.  Near 64 percent of 
the run weighed over 600 lbs. 

   Steers: Medium and Large 1: 300-400 lbs 112.00-118.00; 400-500 lbs 106.00-
118.00; 500-525 lbs 99.00-103.00; pkg 637 lbs calves 94.00; 700-800 lbs 94.00-
97.00, pkg calves 703 lbs 90.50; 975-1000 lbs 83.50-87.00.
