SJ_LS150 St. Joseph, MO Wed Oct 08, 2008 USDA-MO Dept of Ag Market News St. Joseph, MO Stockyards Feeder Cattle Auction Open, Mid-Session and Close for 10/08/2008 Receipts: 400 Last Week: 1335 Year Ago: 2199 Compared to last week, steers and heifers were 3.00 to 5.00 lower on a light test. Buyers are taking a wait and see attitude as Live Cattle futures were trading limit down at one time this morning. The October Live Cattle contract did recover somewhat today to close at 92.40. Producers are cautious also as the run here today is not as big as anticipated late last week. Quality of the offering again this week has run the gamut. Supply included 40 percent steers, 42 percent heifers and 8 percent feeder bulls. Around 39 percent of the cattle weighed over 600 lbs. Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1 400-465 lbs 107.00-110.00; 525-540 lbs 104.00-105.00; 600-640 lbs 108.50-111.00; 700-705 lbs 105.50-106.50; pkg 795 lbs 96.25. Medium and Large 1-2 435-470 lbs 101.50-108.00; 520-550 lbs 97.25- 102.25; 615-680 lbs 100.00-108.00.
