Weekly Cattle Summary    

   Slaughter steers and heifers mostly 2.00 higher.  Holsteins
steady.  Slaughter cows steady, bulls 3.00-5.00 higher.  The
Boxed Beef Cutout Value of a Choice 1-3 600-900 lb beef carcass
on Wednesday was 171.17, 7.47 higher than last Wednesday.  The
Carcass Price Equivalent Index Value of a Choice 1-3 600-900 lb
beef carcass on Wednesday was 153.44, 5.98 higher than last 
Wednesday.  Receipts this week near 500 compared with 1916
last week and 118 a year ago.  The estimated Federally 
Inspected slaughter the first three days this week 384,000
compared with 381,000 last week and 254,000 a year ago.

   Steers:  Choice 2-3 1108-1391 lbs 95.00-97.20, returning to
the country 1039-1239 lbs 96.75-97.30.  Choice 3-4 pkg 1210 lbs 
95.75.  Select and Choice 2-3 pkg 1465 lbs 94.00.  Choice and 
Prime Holsteins 2-3 1300-1600 lbs 86.75-87.00.  Choice 2-3 
Holsteins 1365-1595 lbs 84.00-85.25.  Select and Choice 2-3 
Holsteins 1300-1350 lbs 82.25-83.25.

   Heifers:  Choice 2-3 1095-1355 lbs 94.75-97.40.  Choice 3-4
pkg 1150 lbs 95.00.  Select and Choice 2-3 1065-1090 lbs 92.25-
94.25.
