JC_LS764 Jefferson City, MO Tue Jul 01, 2008 MO Dept of Ag/USDA Market News Palmyra- F and T Livestock Auction Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 06/30/2008 Receipts: 234 Week Ago: 457 Year Ago: 436 Compared with the previous auction; feeder steer and heifer trend not established. Slaughter cows 2.00-4.00 higher. Very few cattle moving as farmers are back in the fields trying to get something done before the next rain event which is predicted for later this week. The Mississippi River is falling which is finally relieving some of the stress on the area levies as well as the people that worked so hard to see that they were maintained. Demand was moderate to good and the supply light. Cows and bulls accounted for 38 percent of the run and feeders 62 percent. In the feeder supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 50 percent of the run; heifers 50 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around 40 percent.
