Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 06/24/2008
 
Receipts:  1262    Two Weeks Ago:  2023    Year Ago:  1194
 
   Compared to two weeks ago, bulk of receipts were yearling steers and 
heifers weighing over 700 lbs selling in pot load lots which sold 
firm to 2.00 higher on comparable sales.  Feeder cattle under 700 lbs
were not well tested.  Demand was very good on yearling cattle as fed cattle 
market is higher and yearling cattle supply hard to come by.  Slaughter cows 
sold mostly 1.00-3.00 higher, instances 5.00 higher on high dressing cows 
with slaughter bulls 2.00-5.00 higher.  Supply included 12 percent slaughter 
cattle with the balance feeders.  The feeder cattle offering was made up of 
65 percent steers and 35 percent heifers with 85 percent weighing over 600 
lbs.
