Cattle Auction Report for 07/01/08

Receipts:  413    Last Week:  798    Year Ago:  285

   Compared to last week’s larger run, feeders steady on a light
test.  With farmers busy in the fields and the nearby holiday, receipts
were light and average feeder quality was not as attractive as usual.
Demand for better quality was still good.  Slaughter cows 1.00 higher.
Cows and bulls were 20 percent of receipts.  In the feeder supply,
steers and bulls were 65 percent of the run; heifers 35 percent.  Near
18 percent of feeders weighed over 600 lbs.

   Feeder Steers:  Medium and Large 1  550-600 lbs 114.00-120.00; 600-
700 lbs 108.50-117.00; few 700-800 lbs 106.75-107.50.  Medium and
Large 1-2  350-400 lbs 125.00-126.00; 400-500 lbs 115.00-126.00, thin
131.00; 500-600 lbs 110.00-116.25; pkg 603 lbs 110.75.  Large 1  700-
750 lbs 104.50-105.00.  Medium 1-2  pkg 398 lbs 117.00; 400-500 lbs
110.00-114.00; pkg 523 lbs 108.50.

   Feeder Heifers:  Medium and Large 1  300-400 lbs 109.00-120.00;
500-550 lbs 100.00-104.50.  Medium and Large 1-2  350-400 lbs 118.00-
118.50; 400-500 lbs 103.00-109.00; 500-600 lbs 100.00-104.00.
Large 2-3  pkg 586 lbs 85.00.

   Feeder Bulls:  Medium and Large 1-2  pkg 423 lbs 117.00; 500-
550 lbs 105.00-108.50.
