Cattle Auction Report Open, Mid-Session, and Close for 07/08/2008

   Compared to two weeks ago, yearling feeder steers sold 1.00-2.00 higher.  
Other classes of feeder and stocker cattle were not well tested.  The 
seasonally light offering included nine loads of top quality 700-900 lb 
yearling steers, but little else.  Slaughter cows and bulls traded 3.00-5.00 
higher.  Supply included 10 percent slaughter cattle with the balance 
feeders.  The feeder cattle offering was made up of 90 percent steers and 
only 10 percent heifers with 88 percent weighing over 600 lbs.

   Feeder Steers:  Medium and Large 1  700-800 lbs 112.10-116.75; 800-850 lbs 
111.75-112.35, load fleshy 805 lbs 109.85; load 905 lbs 107.35.  Medium and 
Large 1-2  450-500 lbs 115.00-121.00; 500-600 lbs 115.00-118.00; pkg 670 lbs 
115.25; 750-800 lbs 105.00-108.50; 900-950 lbs 100.75-101.75.

   Feeder Heifers:  Medium and Large 1-2  400-500 lbs 103.00-108.00; 500-600 
lbs 103.25-105.50; 600-700 lbs 105.25-106.00. 

   Slaughter Steers: Pkg Select, few Choice 2-3  1150 lbs 95.00.

   Bred Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2 pkg 4-5 year old 1175 lb good quality 
blk-bwf 3rd stage bred cows 1000.00 per head.  

   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1-2 consignment 4-5 year old 850-950 lb 
good quality blk-bwf thin cows w/100-200 lbs calves 1200.00-1250.00, few in 
better condition 1320.00 per pair.
