JC_LS134 Jefferson City, MO Tue Jun 26, 2007 MO Dept of Ag/USDA Market News Gainesville MO- Gainesville Livestock Auction, Inc. Cattle Auction Report for 6/25/2007 Receipts: 670 Last Week: 814 Year Ago: 738 Compared to last Monday, steers and heifers were steady to 3.00 lower, except most groups of weaned calves and short-yearlings weighing 500-650 lbs that sold 1.00-3.00 higher. Slaughter cows traded unevenly steady to 1.00 lower. Bulls, even though a light test, were fully steady. Supply light, quality, for the most part, not as attractive this week. Demand uneven, best on uniform groups of weaned/vaccinated calves and short-yearlings. Buyers seeming willing to give up a little quality/flesh and showed more interest in condition and often times color, when weights matched their orders. Monday’s feeder supply consisted of 54 percent steers and 46 percent heifers. Near 33 percent weighed over 600 lbs.
