Market News Reel Livestock Auction Congerville, IL Weighted Average Report for 07/02/2008 Receipts: 221 Last Week: 200 Year Ago: Holiday Compared to last week, slaughter steers sold steady to .50 higher. Slaughter heifers sold 1.50 to 2.50 higher. Slaughter Holstein steers lightly tested. Slaughter cows sold steady to firm and slaughter bulls were 1.50 lower. Not enough of any one weight class of feeder cattle for a price comparison. Trade activity moderate with moderate to good demand. Offerings light. Slaughter steers and heifers accounted for 22 percent of the run; slaughter Holstein steers 1 percent; slaughter cows 26 percent; slaughter bulls 7 percent; bred cows and cow/calf pairs 22 percent and feeder cattle 22 percent. In the feeder cattle supply steers 8 percent; heifers 58 percent; bulls 34 percent. Feeder cattle over 600 lbs 33 percent.
