Demand is strong for dairy alfalfa, moderate to strong for grinding alfalfa, moderate for alfalfa pellets, prairie hay and stock cow quality hay. Most of Western Kansas is suffering from severe to extreme drought conditions, many livestock producer have or will be forced to liquidate their herds due to the lack of feed and grass. Eastern Kansas hay producers struggle between rains to get hay cut and baled. The brome is ready, many have alfalfa ready and the bluestem will be ready next week.
