BL_LS754 Billings, MT Fri Oct 10, 2008 USDA Market News Montana Weekly Auction Summary Receipts: 5,510 Last Week: 3,447 Year Ago: 7,833 Compared to last week: Steer and heifer calf market very uneven this week, weekly trend very difficult to call as the market last Friday was 3.00 to 9.00 higher than last Wednesday only to see the market on Tuesday and Wednesday trade 5.00 to 10.00 lower and then on Thursday calves trade steady to 3.00 lower from a week ago. This makes a weekly trend near meaningless as the market is making such rapid changes. Yearling steers and heifers not well tested last week. Demand remains just moderate for calves and yearlings. Slaughter cows 2.00 to 5.00 lower, bulls 3.00 to 4.00 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 24 percent of the run; balance feeder cattle.
